Held annually on the last day of CANHEIT, SIG Con is a day dedicated to CUCCIO’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

What is SIG Con?

SIG Con - held annually on the last day of CANHEIT - is dedicated to CUCCIO’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs). It’s a unique opportunity for CANHEIT attendees and SIG members to leverage the opportunity to meet in person, build on the conversations from the conference, and strengthen their professional networks.

    • Cost: FREE with CANHEIT conference registration

    • Date & Time: 9 AM – 4 PM (Lunch provided!)

    • Location: CANHEIT 2025 venue at the University of Regina (room TBC)

    • Format: Engaging workshop-style session + breakout SIG meetings

    • Who Can Attend? Higher education and post-secondary institutions, NREN partners, and national partners (registration required via the CANHEIT registration form, opening in March).

    • The day kicks off with a plenary workshop-style session for all attendees, introducing a broad topic and breaking into smaller groups for discussion. Small groups of blended SIG participants will report their findings to the larger group to wrap up the first session.

    • Following the plenary session participants will break into their respective SIG groups, where sessions will either be presentations or round-table discussions, led by a SIG lead or an appointed representative.

    • If you belong to multiple SIGs, you’re free to move between groups and participate in different discussions.

    • Not in a SIG yet? No problem! All higher-ed and research IT professionals are welcome to attend and explore the SIGs that interest them. The only sessions that are not open to all are the Security SIGs.

    • Lunch Provided

    • Sessions Led By: SIG Leads or appointed representatives

    • Want to Propose a Session? Submit ideas to your SIG Chair or email Adrian.lim@cuccio.net

    • Can Exhibitors Attend? Exhibitors are not invited to attend SIGCon—we respect this space as a community-driven event.

    • Strengthen connections within the CUCCIO community and the broader higher education IT sector.

    • Enhance collaboration - meeting SIG peers in person fosters better communication and teamwork year-round.

    • Explore new SIGs and expand your professional involvement.

SIG Con is the natural evolution of CUCCIO’s long-standing tradition of bringing Special Interest Groups together at CANHEIT. Join us for a day of learning, networking, and collaboration!
