Communications and Administration Manager

Marla joined CUCCIO in August 2024 as Communication and Administration Manager, bringing over 25 years of strategic communications expertise across diverse sectors including financial services, utilities, oil and gas, and long-term care. As one of three core team members, Marla manages all communications for both CUCCIO and CANHEIT, overseeing newsletters, website content, email campaigns, promotional materials, and social media presence. Her work has been instrumental in boosting member engagement across Canada's higher education IT sector and elevating the visibility of CUCCIO's flagship programs including CANHEIT, Leadership Development, and SIG membership.

Throughout her career, Marla has developed a reputation for executing high-impact communications strategies in complex, fast-paced environments. Her experience spans crisis communications during the pandemic at Copernicus Lodge, corporate sponsorship management at Allstream during the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, and community engagement work with Indigenous organizations. She has consistently demonstrated an ability to forge strong stakeholder relationships, manage multi-faceted projects, and deliver compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences. Her background includes serving on leadership teams, providing strategic guidance to executives, and managing brand consistency across organizations.

Marla holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in International Marketing from Humber College and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario. When she's not crafting communications strategies, Marla enjoys travel, live music and spending time with her family.
