And the award GOES TO…

Congratulations to all our 2023 award recipients! This year’s CUCCIO awards brought together visionaries, leaders, and innovators from across the Canadian Higher Education community. It was a true highlight of the contributions we make to push the boundaries of what our sector can do, how we can do it, and who leads the charge.

Recognizing Collaboration

The Collaboration Award pays tribute to the power of collaboration in advancing the goals and missions of Canadian universities. Finalists in this category showcased initiatives that fostered unity, broke down silos, and promoted cross-functional collaboration. The University of British Columbia’s Emerging Media Lab (EML) stood out. Bringing experts, students, and faculty together to push how course delivery can and will happen in the future.

Congratulations to Dr. Patrick Parra Pennefather, Saeed Dyanatkar, and the many individuals who helped bring Collaborative Course Development at UBC’s Emerging Media Lab to the students, faculty and partners of UBC’s EML.

Celebrating Innovation

Innovation took centre stage at the CUCCIO Awards. Using technology to ensure that the University of Toronto was a steward of the environment with their submission Air Travel Emissions Mitigation Initiative (ATEMI). This project will reduce the University’s overall carbon footprint by encouraging its community to consider the impact of air travel and consider alternatives.

Congratulations to Marc Couture and the entire University of Toronto team who created this wonderful innovation!

Emphasizing Community

A hearty congratulations to a long-time supporter, and someone so deserving of the CUCCIO Community Award, Dana Sanderson of the University of Prince Edward Island. He’s a strong contributor to the Leadership Development Program, the Information Security Leadership Development Program and throughout the CUCCIO community. Thank you so much for contributing to our community Dana!
