Initiatives designed for members are developed, led and implemented by CUCCIO and supported through the active participation of volunteers from member universities. Undertaken for the benefit of our member universities, their IT leaders and IT staff these initiatives include such things as:
- CANHEIT: Working in partnership with host universities, CUCCIO oversees the annual CANHEIT conference for Canada’s IT professionals in higher education. As the only conference for IT professionals in higher education, CANHEIT attracts more than 350 participants per year.
- Benchmarking and measurement: CUCCIO has developed a national benchmarking and measurement program to collect and report on data and information related to IT in higher education across Canada. The program is supported by an online repository and reporting system based on the Australian CAUDIT model.
- Professional development: From the annual CANHEIT conference and member meetings, to participation in special interest groups and on standing committees, CUCCIO provides opportunities for IT staff in our member institution to collaborate, share best practices and learn from each other. Our future offerings will be defined and guided by a professional development strategy and supporting action plan aimed at developing the next cadres of IT leaders.
- Vendor relations & joint procurement: CUCCIO maintains relationships with a number of major IT vendors who provide services to many of Canada’s universities. Through these relationships as well as connections to a number of national and provincial procurement bodies, CUCCIO works to advance and support collaborative sector wide initiatives and services in the interest of achieving efficiencies for members.
